95mm Skirting Board FAQs
Is 95mm a standard skirting board height?
Yes. 95mm is one of our standard MDF skirting heights, the size traditionally sold as 4 inch. It sits at the lower end of our range, which runs from 70mm to 400mm, and almost every MDF profile we make comes in 95mm.
How many mm is a 4 inch skirting board?
In UK joinery, 4 inch is a nominal trade name rather than an exact measurement. The board sold as 4 inch is finished at 95mm, about 3¾ inches (3.74 inches), a little under a true 4 inches (102mm). If you have searched for a 4 inch skirting board, 95mm is the size you want.
Do you make a 100mm skirting board?
Our closest standard height to 100mm is 95mm, which is 5mm lower. If you need exactly 100mm, for example to match existing skirting, we can cut bespoke sizes to order.
What rooms suit a 95mm skirting board?
95mm suits modern and minimalist interiors and smaller rooms where you want the skirting to stay in the background. It is also at the lower end of the 95mm to 145mm range often used with ceilings of 2.1m to 2.4m. Our skirting board height guide compares the sizes by ceiling height.
Is skirting 4 inch or 5 inch?
Both are common. A 4 inch board is 95mm and keeps a compact, modern line. A 5 inch board is 120mm, a little taller and one of the most popular heights in UK homes. If you want more presence at the floor, see our 120mm skirting boards.
What thickness, lengths and finishes are available?
Every 95mm board comes in 25mm thickness, and most profiles also come in 18mm and 15mm. The thickness options on each product show what that profile offers. Lengths are 3050mm and 4200mm. Choose unprimed, primed or undercoated for painting, or a painted Matt Grey or Satin Black finish, with an optional rebate for pipes and cables. Prefer real timber? Our Pine range includes a closely matched 94mm. Every board is made to order in our Birmingham factory from moisture-resistant MDF.
