120mm Skirting Board FAQs
Is 120mm a standard skirting board height? +
Yes - 120mm is one of our standard MDF skirting board heights, available across every skirting profile we make, from contemporary Bullnose, Square and Chamfered through to traditional Ogee and Torus. Our standard heights run from 70mm up to 400mm, and at 120mm you're at one of the most popular mid-heights, which is why it's such a common choice for modern UK homes.
What is 120mm in inches? +
120mm is about 4¾ inches (4.72 inches), just under the 5 inch mark. If you need a precise imperial size, or a height we don't list as standard, we can cut bespoke sizes to order.
What rooms suit a 120mm skirting board? +
120mm suits the majority of UK rooms, particularly modern homes with standard 2.4m ceilings where it sits in proportion without overwhelming. It's a step up from a basic 95mm board you might find at a builders merchants, covering more of the wall and giving a more substantial finish, while staying neat in hallways, bedrooms and living rooms alike. For rooms with higher ceilings or a period feel, a taller board often looks better.
Should I choose 120mm or a taller skirting board? +
It comes down to ceiling height and the look you're after. 120mm is the safe, popular choice for standard ceilings and most modern interiors. If you have higher ceilings, larger rooms or a period property, a taller board can look more in proportion - browse our 170mm skirting boards or the full tall skirting board range. We can also cut bespoke heights to order for anything in between.
What thickness, lengths and finishes are available? +
Our 120mm skirting boards come in 15mm, 18mm and 25mm thicknesses, and in 3050mm and 4200mm lengths - longer boards mean fewer joints and a cleaner run. Choose from unprimed, primed, undercoated or fully finished. Prefer real timber to MDF? Our Pine range runs to a closely matched 119mm.
