Every trim and moulding you order is made in our Birmingham workshop. When you place an order, we machine it from the board to your exact size. This bespoke approach allows us to offer over 100 profiles in custom sizes and finishes, we believe in unique profiles for unique homes.

Location
Our workshop in Birmingham processes your order end to end - from raw MDF sheets to finished, primed boards ready for installation. We moved here in early 2020, having outgrown two previous locations as production capacity increased.
We also invested in our machinery, with multiple moulding machines, a beam saw for precision cutting, a manual spray booth and an automatic spray line for primer application, plus dedicated sanding and finishing stations to ensure your trims are picture perfect.
We operate our own delivery fleet - with over 20 vehicles - having started with just two vans. Running our own logistic service lets us correctly handle long length boards and provide reliable, flexible coverage across the UK mainland.
Founded in 2011
Skirting World's founders had extensive experience in wood machining - their expertise for manufacturing mouldings transformed a small workshop into the UK's largest interior trims supplier. In 2011, there were few online retailers offering skirting boards, which presented an opportunity.
Our first workshop was tiny: one moulder, one spindle moulder, one spray booth, and around seven staff. Our production capacity grew with demand, we expanded machinery, finishing capability and eventually the delivery operation to support building Britain's homes.
Today, we produce thousands of lengths every day across over 100 profiles, with our expert team and a facility designed to scale with and build Britain's homes.
How We Make Skirting Boards
Material
Most of our range is machined from moisture-resistant MDF - a high-density fibreboard that cuts cleanly, holds intricate designs without chipping and allows a smooth paint finish. We also work with natural softwoods for customers who prefer real timber, our natural softwood range is expanding and includes Pine skirting boards.
Profile cutting
Skirting board profiles are cut using multi-head moulding machines which shape the board in a single pass. Each profile has dedicated tooling. The beam saw handles length cutting with precision that manual cutting can't match, particularly important for longer boards.
Finishing
Primed and undercoated finishes go through our spray line with sanding between coats. The automatic line handles volume, the manual booths handle specialist work and smaller runs for bespoke work. A denibbing machine gives the final surface its smoothness before packing.
Bespoke profiles
Custom work requires custom tooling. We ask customers to send samples, drawings, or photographs of the profile they need. We assess whether it's producible, create the tooling and manufacture. This is common for matching existing mouldings in period properties or achieving specific architectural details that you can't buy off the shelf.

Wall Panels
After introducing panel mouldings to the Skirting World range, demand for wall panelling products grew enough to launch our sister brand - Wall Panels World.
MDF panel mouldings and panelling strips are manufactured in-house using the same processes. We also stock PVC bathroom panels and acoustic slat panels from trusted suppliers.
