FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
You've got questions and we've got answers. How tall can you make a skirting board? Can you get matching architrave? How long are the skirting boards? The Skirting World team have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions and answered them all right here. Have a look below for more information. If there's anything we've missed, feel free to let us know.
Does the profile / design change size as the height and width of the skirting board and architrave change?
No. The design always stays the same no matter what size the skirting boards or architraves are. For example - if the design is 50mm on a 70mm board, the design will be 50mm on a 250mm board.
Please refer to our help centre for more information.
What size is the standard rebate?
Our rebate is 20mm x 12mm as standard. However, we can do this to a size to suit you.
Are all the materials moisture resistant?
All of our MDF products are made using moisture resistant HDF. Unfortunately, Pine is a natural product and is not moisture resistant.
What's the most commonly used / purchased thickness for skirting and architrave?
We generally find that 18mm is the most common thickness purchased from ourselves.
How quickly can I receive my order?
Our standard delivery is within 5 working days. Our Super Fast delivery option is within 2 days! See all of our delivery options here.
I want to return something. Can I do that?
If the product is faulty - we will arrange to collect the goods and replace them as quickly as possible.
If you do not like the product - we can take the goods back but you will be charged for the collection of the goods and you will only receive 50% of the material costs back as we take a 50% restocking fee to recover some of the costs.
You can check out our terms and conditions for more information.
How is the skirting and architrave packaged?
To reduce the risk of the skirting boards and architraves being damaged during transit, we put cardboard edge protection on all sides of the package and then tightly shrink wrap them. This ensures that they reach you in the same condition that we dispatch them.
UPDATE: Because 98% of our orders are now delivered using our own delivery vehicles and handled by our own employees, we have greatly reduced the risk of damage. If an order is allocated to one of our own vehicles, we simply use shrink wrap to secure the parcels together (both ends of the parcel). This has enabled us to reduce our cardboard and plastic consumption dramatically and helps us become much more environmentally friendly as a company.
Where orders still need to be delivered by a third party, cardboard edge protection and shrink wrap are both used to ensure safe delivery of the order.
What is the longest length of skirting board I can buy from Skirting World?
The longest length we are able to produce is 4200mm (4.2 metres). This applies to all of our MDF skirting boards.
In Pine we are able to produce skirting in lengths up to 5400mm (depending on material stock we have at the time of order).
