What is the depth option for?

This option is chosen when you are purchasing one of our MDF window boards (also called window cills). It allows you to select how deep you want the window board to be.

The Depth Option

How do I know which depth to choose?

You will need to measure from the edge of the wall up to the window frame. This is where the window board will sit when installed. Once you have measured this area, you will want to add a few centimetres to your measurement - this will be used for the overhang. You will notice that most window boards don't finish where the wall does, they protrude over the wall slightly - this is the overhang.

I can't see the size that I need - what do I do?

As standard, we offer the following depths for window boards:

  • 150mm
  • 200mm
  • 250mm
  • 300mm
  • 350mm
  • 400mm

We have found that these sizes are the most commonly found in homes throughout the UK. However, we know that every house is different and that's why we offer virtually any depth that you need!

Example 1: if you need a depth of 325mm - no problem! Simply choose the depth above (in this case, 350mm) and leave us a note with the requested finished size and we'll do this for you. There isn't any extra charge for this service and the notes can be left within the box at the checkout.

Example 2: if you need a depth of 640mm - again, no problem! Although we don't list this option online, we can manufacture it. All you need to do is drop us a quick email or give us a call and let us know your requirements. We'll price it up for you and should you accept, we'll get the order done!

As you can see, there's really no limit to the depth you can have. Should you have any more questions, ask away - we're here to help.
