Skirting Boards
100 Designs - Many Sizes - Premium Skirting Boards
Here at Skirting World, we specialise in manufacturing skirting boards to meet your specifications. Whether you need them taller than normal or you can't seem to find a design you need anywhere, we're here to help you. Choose from our range of 100 designs including modern and traditionally profiled skirting board.
We Manufacture All Our Skirting Board In House
Our skirting board is custom made from start to finish - the manufacturing process all happens in house! We cut each board from your chosen material (be it MDF, HDF or Pine) and use our highly experienced team to produce your order exactly the way you want it.
Once you have placed your order, we begin the manufacturing process. Let's say that you order 18 pieces of Ogee skirting board - 170mm x 18mm x 3050mm, all primed. We take several sheets of MDF that start out at 18mm thick, 1220mm wide and 3050mm long. These boards are then cut into several pieces at 170mm wide until we have the 18 that you have ordered.
The next step is to apply your chosen design to each board so that they are all identical. We do this by removing material from the boards using either a moulder or spindle and the Ogee style cutting tools. Our expert machinist does this carefully to ensure the design looks as it should and no damage is caused to the boards or machine.
Now, because you've ordered the primed white skirting boards they are passed to our in house french polisher. He uses a professional spray gun to add 2 coats of primer to the front face and top edge of the boards (only parts visible when installed). Between the first and second coat, he sands the boards down by hand to ensure a tidy and smooth application of primer. Once the second layer has been added, the boards are left to dry. Once completely dry a denibbing machine handles the rest of the sanding and makes the primed surfaces of all the boards nice and smooth so that they will easily accept a layer of paint if you choose to do this during installation.
Finally, our wrapping team take care of making the order suitable for transportation. Cardboard edge protection and shrink wrap is used to ensure the finished skirting boards arrive at your home in the condition we sent them (perfect!) so that you can install them straight away.
If you plan on fitting yourself, check out our post on how to fit skirting boards. We now make skirting board covers too!

MDF Skirting Boards Are Hugely Popular
Skirting boards are now mostly made from the popular MDF material but our HDF option is proving to popular too. If you're after something a little more traditional, we also use Pine to create our skirting.
We always recommend using MDF or HDF (cheaper, more durable, higher quality finish) but if you're looking for the real wood effect, Pine is the way to go. We try to treat the knots and imperfections as best as possible and most customers using Pine are generally looking to stain the boards rather than paint to achieve the final finish.
MDF skirting boards are the cheapest option but, don't be fooled by the price. Our MDF is of the highest quality, extremely durable and creates a consistent and beautiful finish once the final coat is added to it.
Choose A Standard Thickness Or Ask Us For Something Different!
We are able to produce skirting in various thicknesses - 15mm, 18mm and 25mm are our standard sizes. However, should you need a board with a bit of weight behind it, we are able to get our hands on thicker material really quickly.
The most common sizes we get asked for (and produce) are 30mm and 38mm. For skirting boards made in one piece (with older properties, we see a lot of boards that have been made out of several pieces), the maximum thickness we have produced so far is 50mm!
Maybe you're looking for a thinner board? Don't worry, drop us a line because we are also able to get materials much thinner than our standard sizes.
Extra Long Runs? We've Got You Covered...
Do you need long skirting to cover long runs or walls? Well, we offer skirting in 3050mm and 4200mm lengths!
All of our lengths are made from our moisture resistant HDF boards. Longer lengths can prevent unnecessary joins during the fitting skirting boards and make the finished article look even smoother.
White Skirting Boards
As a rule, the majority of customers will purchase from us with the intention of painting their skirting boards white (be it gloss, eggshell, etc.).
If this is the case, make sure you choose our primed finish. This gives you a perfect surface on to which you can apply your final paint finish.
Bespoke Skirting Board Design
Want to match your existing skirtings but can't find a matching design from our huge collection? Don't worry!
Our bespoke matching service will solve your problem. We simply take a detailed drawing or small section of the skirting you want to match, have a new cutting tool made and then manufacture the new boards to accurately match your old ones!
